Help and questions
Can't find your answer? Send us a message or call the hotline at (323) 752-5111.
How do I reserve seats for a special event?
Sign in with your card number and password, open Screenings, choose a date and select how many seats you need. Your confirmation appears straight away and a copy is emailed to you. If you've forgotten your password, use "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in page.
Where is my card number?
It's printed just to the right of the signature panel on your membership card. Former LAFTA members can keep using their LAFTA number.
Can I change or cancel a reservation?
Yes. Go to My reservations, choose the event, and change the number of seats or cancel. Online changes close 24 hours before the event. Once we send your name to the venue, you are committed to attend.
What happens if an event is full?
Join the waitlist on the event page. If someone cancels, we email everyone on the waitlist so the first to reserve gets the seats.
What is the difference between Regular and Premium membership?
Regular membership lets you and one guest attend all weekend morning screenings. Premium adds evening special events: plays, special screenings, concerts and lectures.
Can I bring extra guests?
Members may bring one guest. If you have family or friends visiting from out of town, email us. We can usually allow an extra guest or two as long as no member would be turned away.
Can I bring children?
Children under 5 aren't admitted. Some screenings allow extra children; the age range depends on the film.
How do I get in on the day?
Show your membership card to the Academy representative at the door. If you have a guest, please enter together. Plan to arrive 30 minutes early.
Are there rules at screenings?
Please don't talk or use a lit phone during the film, take your litter with you, and be courteous to staff and other members. At some pre-release screenings security will check bags for recording equipment; please cooperate. Membership can be revoked for disruptive behavior.
Why does the Academy screen films?
Screenings help us consider films and performances for Saturn Award nominations, and they help studios build word of mouth for new releases. We have offered these screenings to members for more than 30 years.
